Whether you are homeschooling your kids, working from home, keeping children mentally and physically healthy at the same time can be a challenge. The good news is: you are not alone. And while we know that parents can sometimes struggle with these issues, we want to dedicate this article to all moms who are doing an amazing job!

So, what’s this whole fuzz about #momlife about? Social media is a great tool for staying in touch with your friends, especially when you cannot visit them in person. But let’s be honest. Constantly following a stream of picture-perfect family photos of others can also be exhausting. It might tempt you to compare yourself and your own family life with those of families’ on apps like Instagram.
Please don’t get us wrong, we believe it’s legitimate and beautiful to share insights into your family life. However, we also believe that it’s important to remember that this content represents only a tiny part of a family’s day. And we want to remind you that while being inspired is an amazing thing, comparing yourself to unrealistic standards is not. Know that it’s okay to feel overwhelmed with all the craziness a family brings.

That’s why we want to help you relax and focus on yourself and your own family again. And what could be a better form of relaxation than a spa? Correct: a DIY spa at home! Well, maybe we have to be honest and admit that it might not be as relaxing as an actual spa day but with the current circumstances, it’s still a good way to escape reality for a few hours. Here’s our favorite routine for a DIY home spa!
1. Get in the mood
To enjoy your spa moments to the fullest, the right mindset is one of the most important prerequisites. Grab your headphones or a speaker and find yourself a relaxing playlist. You could also try listening to a podcast that relaxes you or even start your spa experience with meditation if you feel extra spiritual today.
2. Get the tools ready
Before locking yourself into the bathroom, make sure you have everything you need for your DIY spa: Face masks, a cup of tea or coffee, bath salts, your favorite foot scrub and something to entertain you in your spa. However, do not forget that the main goal is for you to relax! So if all this preparation is stressing you out, you might as well enjoy a simple bath with no fancy bath salts, magazines and drinks.
3. The main act
Just like spas usually have different areas where you can either sweat in the sauna, take a dip in ice-cold water or spend a few minutes in a bubbly whirlpool, you can decide which area you would like to visit at home. You can, for example, take a hot bath and listen to that relaxing playlist you’ve found before. You can also take some extra time to give yourself a full-body scrub and shower everything off afterwards. Or why not enjoy the outside area of the spa (AKA your balcony or garden)?
4. Enjoy the afterglow
Gently let yourself go back into the real world after spending some time in your home spa helps you to preserve your relaxation a little longer. Put on your favorite chunky sweater, some comfy pants, and fluffy socks. If you’re feeling a bit heated up from the hot shower or bath, make sure not to drink ice-cold drinks immediately. Drink something more appropriate for your current body temperature, for example, lukewarm tea.
